Former staff members of Viking FM are organising an unofficial party and reunion to celebrate the radio station’s 30th birthday.
The event will take place at Oscars Bar in Hull city centre on Thursday 17th April, thirty years to the day since Viking Radio launched in 1984. The station, which broadcasts to East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire, previously hosted official parties to mark its 21st and 25th birthdays. Both social occasions brought together Viking staff with ex-employees.
Alana Ennis, who worked for Viking FM between 2005 and 2007, is one of the organisers. She told RadioToday: “Viking staff have always known how to party, so we couldn’t see the 30th birthday pass without having a proper celebration.
“The 21st and 25th parties were brilliant, so a few former colleagues have got together to organise this reunion and carry on the tradition.
“All those with both past and present links to the station are welcome to come along, catch up with old friends and enjoy a few drinks.”
Entry to the venue – which is situated on Silver Street in Hull Old Town – is free, with the event starting at 7pm. Attendees are encouraged to register through the ‘Viking Radio 30th Birthday’ Facebook event page, or by emailing [email protected]
