Joining Coldplay in Glasgow for BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend are One Direction, Kings of Leon, Kasabian, Ed Sheeran, Lily Allen, Paolo Nutini and more.
Breakfast Show host Nick Grimshaw this morning revealed the full line-up, taking place at Glasgow Green on 24th and 25th May – including US pop star Katy Perry who will headline the final night of the two-day event.
Katy Perry said: “Your Saturday line-up is dope. I’ll see you on the weekend, I’m so excited.”
Chris Martin last week announced that Coldplay will also perform, headlining the Main Stage on Saturday 24th May. The news was revealed by the band ahead of their special pop-up Live Lounge performance on Radio 1.
Over 50 artists and bands will join Katy Perry and Coldplay across the event’s three stages – the Main Stage, In New Music Stage and a BBC Introducing Stage which will showcase talented unsigned and undiscovered artists.
Joining headliners Coldplay to perform on the Main Stage on Saturday 24th May are One Direction, Bastille, Pharrell, Jake Bugg, Lily Allen and Ed Sheeran.
Kings of Leon, The Vamps, John Newman, Rita Ora, The 1975, Tinie Tempah and Paolo Nutini will all perform on the Main Stage on Sunday 25th May, ahead of Katy Perry’s headline performance.
It was also announced this morning that Kasabian will headline the In New Music We Trust Stage on Sunday 25th May. The full line-up for the In New Music We Trust Stage will be revealed this evening on BBC Radio 1, during Zane Lowe’s show (7-9pm).
Ben Cooper, Controller, Radio 1 and 1Xtra said: “It’s a phenomenal line-up, probably the best in the world this year, in one of the world’s great music cities.”
All 50,000 tickets for Radio 1’s Big Weekend Live from Glasgow Green were given away earlier this month in just 35 minutes.
