The first speakers confirmed for this year’s Radio Festival include former Radio 1 boss Andy Partiff, plus Tracy Johnson and Richard Curtis.
Film director Richard Curtis will talk about his experiences with Comic Relief, discussing radio as a platform for fundraising and its influence on the audience. The ‘Comic Relief & The Power of Radio’ session will take place on Wednesday 15th October.
San Diego’s Tracy Johnson, a breakfast consultant and founder of Tracy Johnson Media Group, will lead a ‘Breakfast Bootcamp and Sir John Hegarty, founder of Bartle Botle Hegarty, will feature in an ‘In Conversation’ session, hosted by Andy Parfitt.
And Martha Lane Fox, co-founder of lastminute.com, will be part of a session entitled ‘The Festival Futurescope’ giving her insight into radio and the digital world, and what the future holds for the industry.
Paul Robinson, Chief Executive of The Radio Academy, said: “If you haven’t attended the Radio Festival for a while, then this is the year to come to Salford Quays for three days of networking, inspirational sessions and speakers, takeaways to use back at work, and fresh ideas. See you there.”
Chris Burns, Chair of this year’s Radio Festival, said: “We are creating a Festival programme that celebrates the very best of the industry and gives people an opportunity to hear from creatives and business leaders working outside radio, who face similar challenges to us. We have a great cast so far and this is just the start.”
Further sessions, speakers and live broadcasts from the Festival will be announced in the coming weeks alongside details of TechCon, 30 Under 30 and Foot In The Door.
The event takes place at The Lowry, MediaCityUK in Salford Quays from 13th-15th October 2014.
