Chris Stevens, Deputy Group Programme Director of Real & Smooth Radio, has announced that he will be leaving the group at the end of this month.
Chris will depart the company, which has handed over running of Real and Smooth stations to Global Radio and Communicorp, to run his production businesses.
In a Facebook post and internal email seen by RadioToday, Chris described the exit as very amicable, commenting that he’s keen to spend “more time with Pro Tools, and less time with Excel”.
Speaking to RadioToday, Chris told us about his decision. “I’ve really loved the last four years at GMG and Real & Smooth, and the Hold Separate process and recent rebrands have been fascinating; I’ve learnt so much. However, I’m a producer at heart, and with Ignite Jingles and Devaweb both expanding fast, now seemed like the right time to take them to the next level”.
Chris rejoined GMG Radio as Group Production Director, having previously spent five years as the Creative Director of TM Studios in Dallas. He was then promoted to Deputy Group PD, replacing James Rea who moved to LBC. As well as running Ignite Jingles and Devaweb, last year Chris also launched online country station Chris Country.
Real and Smooth Radio Ltd was created after the buy-out of GMG Radio by Global Radio, operating in Hold Separate for almost two years.
