Dominic Byrne leaves Capital Breakfast

Capital FM’s breakfast show newsreader Dominic Byrne has left the show after just 15 months.

He tweeted over the weekend saying “Just about to read my last ever bulletin on @958capbreakfast. Big thanks to @daveberry_tweet @Lisa_Snowdon @little_richie and @paulphelps”

In reply, Lisa said: “Gonna miss you big guy!!” and Dave joked “I never liked you so this suits me just fine.”

When asked what he’s going to do next, Dom tweeted: “Getting up at 4.30am every morning finally got the better of me!! So.. Off to do lots of exciting stuff now – and have a bloody long lie-in!”

Dominic started at Capital in March 2013 after leaving BBC Radio 1 the previous year, where he was part of the Chris Moyles show.

His radio career started in Manchester at Kiss 102 on breakfast news before moving to London to freelance at IRN and Virgin. Dominic is also a Voice Over and is currently the voice of an alien called Zorst in the CBeebies show Space Pirates.
