Orion Media has signed a new partnership deal for its annual live music event in Birmingham.
The deal makes Birmingham Ormiston Academy (BOA) the official partner for this year’s Free Radio Live concert at the LG Arena on November 29.
This year’s line-up is yet to be unveiled, but previous acts have included Olly Murs, The Saturdays, McFly, JLS and Little Mix.
The partnership will offer 200 students at BOA – a specialist digital and performing arts college based in Birmingham – the opportunity to perform at the event or secure work placements with Free Radio. They will have the chance to work behind the scenes at the concert or to help with its organization, providing them with real life experiences.
Adrian Serle, Orion Media Group Commercial Director said: “Free Radio Live is one of the most highly anticipated music events across the Midlands each year, and this partnership highlights our drive to deliver truly engaging solutions for customers way beyond the traditional badging exercise of a typical sponsorship.
“This partnership delivers exceptional coverage, true partner integration, and a creative and flexible way for BOA to showcase its most prized assets – their students.”
Students will be invited to audition or submit written applications for other roles working alongside radio DJs, producers, the marketing team or as runners at the event.
Last year, a group of BOA students opened the show on the main stage performing a dance routine in front of 15,000 and another student sang a Christmas song with radio presenters and former Pop Idol finalists Sam and Mark. Many more students also performed on a second stage.
