Heart Yorkshire Breakfast team Dixie and Emma recently went head-to-head in a live cook-off.
The pair were at The Leeds Food and Drink Festival and went up against each other with student chef partners from Leeds City College. Each team was tasked with preparing a main and desert course in front of a live audience with expert chef Stephanie Moon comparing and adjudicating the cook off.
Dixie was teamed with Jack Oades and together they cooked a rack of lamb for the main and strawberries and meringue in chocolate sauce for dessert. Emma and chef partner Hannah Taylor prepared fillet fish with asparagus and tomatoes for main with strawberry and rhubarb shortbread crumble for dessert.
In order to decide a winner, two members of the audience were picked at random to taste and cast their vote. Dixie’s main course won over Emma’s but she topped Dixie as her desert won over the judges.
