Bauer Media has created new positions in its communications team, and appointed two Absolute Radio executives.
Cat Martin (previously Macdonald) has been appointed Communications Director, Bauer Media Radio which will see her taking responsibility for trade and consumer communications for the KISS FM UK, Magic, Absolute Radio, Planet Rock, heat radio, Kerrang! brands and the Place Portfolio of 16 radio stations which include Manchester’s Key 103, Liverpool’s Radio City and Clyde in Scotland.
Cat will also oversee internal communications for the group, with Head of Internal Communications, Genevieve Potter reporting into her. She will also work with Bauer Commercial Marketing Director Rebecca Eaves on a joined-up trade communications strategy.
Cat was previously Communications Director for the Absolute Radio Network, acquired by the Bauer Media Group in December 2013.
And Jonny Silver is set to take up the position of Communications Manager, Bauer Media Radio in a promotion into a new role reporting into Cat Martin. Jonny was Communications Executive at Absolute Radio.
The radio Communications team will also work closely with Jo Parkerson, Entertainment and Lifestyle Director. Jo heads up the Bauer Media Ents Hub, a central content sharing system, and entertainment news service which offers a one stop shop for PRs, publicists and record labels to see their talent interviews leveraged across all media brands under the Bauer Media umbrella.
Cat Martin will report into Group Marketing Director, Anne-Marie Lavan, who commented, “Leveraging our communications talent across Bauer Media is critical to our ambition. With the recent purchase of Absolute Radio we have acquired experience to add to our team, who collectively will deliver strong leadership and dynamic results across the group.”
These appointments follow previous promotions of Absolute Radio’s Anthony Abbott, who became Digital Product Director in Bauer’s Radio Division; Simon Kilby’s appointment to Head of Marketplace with ownership of Bauer Media Advertising’s overall agency strategy; Paul Brown to Digital Development Director; and Adrian Fitch to Head of Insights.
