Even More Music Month back at Radio 1

BBC Radio 1 is to host 30 Live Lounge performances across 30 consecutive days in September as part of Even More Music Month.

Starting on Monday 1st September when Kasabian will perform in Radio 1’s Live Lounge during Fearne Cotton’s show, there will be live music on Radio 1 every day of the month, including weekends.

Acts lined up include 5 Seconds Of Summer, Maroon 5, The Script, Paolo Nutini, Lana Del Rey, Sam Smith, Labrinth and Ellie Goulding. A Live Lounge performance from Ed Sheeran on 30th September will draw the feature to a close.

George Ergatoudis, Head of Music, Radio 1 and 1Xtra said: “I’m extremely excited by the range of this year’s line-up for Even More Music Month. We have brilliant artists like Hozier, Jungle and FKA Twigs making their debut appearances in Radio 1’s Live Lounge, plus a host of returning superstars. And the collaboration between Clean Bandit and the BBC Philharmonic is going to be very special indeed. Music fans are in for a spectacular September.”

Maroon 5, whose Live Lounge performance on 11th September will be their first UK radio performance since 2010 said: “We are so excited about our new album ‘V’ and glad to be coming back to Radio 1’s Live Lounge to celebrate Even More Music Month.”

Alice Levine will host the weekend Live Lounges during her new 1-4pm weekend show, and videos from all the bands and artists will be available to watch on Radio 1’s YouTube channel.

In addition to their Live Lounge performances for Fearne Cotton, Kasabian (1st September), Lana Del Rey (16th September) and Ben Howard (23rd September) will perform in session for Zane Lowe during his Monday-Thursday, 7-9pm show.

On 10th September, Clean Bandit will be in session for Zane Lowe live from Salford, during a special collaboration with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra. The band will be performing a brand-new orchestral arrangement of their debut album ‘New Eyes’, which features the tracks ‘Rather Be’ and ‘Extraordinary’, orchestrated by composer Joe Duddell.
