Heart v Radio 1 for Strictly Come Dancing

Scott Mills has been announced as the 10th celebrity signing for Strictly this year, putting him up against Heart presenter Mark Wright.

“I am so excited about this.. I am actually shaking” Scott said on-air this morning as Craig Revel Horwood made the announcement during breakfast on Radio 1. “This is the weirdest show I’ve ever done,” he added.

Scott Mills is covering for Nick Grimshaw all this week, and will start filming for the twelfth series of the BBC television show shortly, ready for transmission on September 6th. Live shows start on September 26th. He usually hosts the afternoon show 1-4pm weekdays.

Mark Wright currently presents Friday and Saturday nights on Heart and confirmed he is a contestant on the TV show during his Club Classics show on Friday, meaning the show has two radio presenters on the line-up this year.

Scott said: “My listeners are so used to me playing pranks that they’re probably going to think this is just another one. It’s not, I really am doing this! I’m honoured be part of the biggest show on television and hoping this could be the start of a brand-new skill for me. When I was younger, my Nan danced the foxtrot and waltz and it would be great for me to learn those dances, but I will be out of my comfort zone. Whatever happens, I’m really looking forward to the weekly fake tans!”

Scott joins Frankie Bridge, Judy Murray, Alison Hammond, Thom Evans, Simon Webbe, Sunetra Sarker, Jake Wood and Steve Backshall in this year’s battle for the ballroom. Five more celebrities are still to be confirmed.
