The Government’s consultation on community radio funding closed five months ago but the Department for Culture, Media and Sport is still analysing feedback.
The consultation ran from 13th February to 23rd April this year but as yet no responses have been posted online. The Media Directorate said at the time that “A summary of responses and a Government response on the way forward will be published in due course following the closure of the consultation.”
We asked the Department for Media, Culture and Sport when the consultation responses are likely to be published, which confirmed: “The Department can inform you that the response to the consultation will be made very soon”.
The paper was seeking views on changing the way community radio is funded – from lifting the restrictions preventing stations from taking any income from on-air advertising or sponsorship if they overlap with a smaller commercial station – to changing the 50% limit on advertising.
The consultation was announced in March by Ed Vaizey at a Go Digital event.
