Jazz FM recently held a Mike Chadwick day to celebrate his 20th anniversary at the station.
Mike has been with on-air at the specialist station through various owners, since it launched in the North West in 1994 and currently presents two shows per week – the Saturday Night Experience and The Cutting Edge. “I’m extremely proud of this achievement and it is an achievement, A radio show lasting 20 years is not your everyday occurrence!,” Mike said.
On Monday this week, he selected his some of his favourite artists from over the past two decades, and these were played once an hour every hour from 6am till 7pm.
Mike, on hearing the news that a whole day will be dedicated to him said: “I’d like to thank Jazz FM for believing in what I do and for leaving me alone to get on and do it. Here’s to the next 20 years of showcasing amazing music.”
He owned a record shop in Manchester when he got offered a show on the new North West regional station by the station’s first Programme Controller Mike Henfield.
