It’s a big day for a small handful of radio stations as Scotland votes whether to become an independent state.
Extra programming will be broadcast on BBC Radio 4, BBC 5 live and BBC Radio Scotland, plus LBC and Bauer stations in Scotland after 10pm. Radio stations are forbidden by Ofcom to cover any of the issues relating to the referendum on polling day itself.
“Referendum Live” will be broadcast from midnight till 7am on all Bauer stations in Scotland on AM and FM hosted by Robin Galloway, with support from Lorraine Herbison (Head of News) and Political Editor Colin Mackay. Bauer has reporters at 23 of the counts overnight.
BBC Radio 4 and 5 live will join forces to broadcast coverage by Rachel Burden and James Naughtie. They’ll have live coverage and results, as the votes are counted from the Scottish referendum on independence after 10pm and continuing till 5am. Radio 4 will break away for 15 minutes at 10:45pm though for a Book at Bedtime. according to RadioWise.
At Radio Scotland, the title of the programme is the same: ‘Scotland Decides’ will also air from 10pm hosted by Isabel Fraser and Bill Whiteford.
National Global station LBC has Duncan Barkes and Iain Dale with the results as they happen, whilst Friday’s breakfast show with Nick Ferrari will also be live from Edinburgh.
A number of local stations will also be providing extra content and programming around the event, including Central FM which will air “Scotland Decides” from 10pm till breakfast on Friday and Fife’s Kingdom FM which is live from the Fife Council counting station and the overall Scottish counting HQ at Ingleston.
