Former Capital FM network evening show host James Barr has joined Bauer’s digital station heat radio for a new weekend show.
James – who already does the Friday night Floorfillers show on the Bauer Place network in the North of England and Scotland – will take over the Saturday 12-4pm slot on heat radio, with Alex Duffy moving to 4-7pm instead. Alex also does the weekday overnight show 1-6am on the network.
Radio City drivetime co-host Claire Simonsen is also getting a slot on heat radio – her first solo radio show. She’ll be doing 12-4pm on Sundays.
James, who left Capital last summer, said: “It’s so exciting to finally have a permanent home on heat, one of my favourite radio stations. It perfectly serves the ‘inbetweeners’ of 25–35 year old girls and boys that love pop music and fun celeb stuff – and I’m one of them!”
Music and Content Director of heat radio Ric Blaxill told RadioToday: “These fantastic additions to the team will help to drive our weekend offering. Each of them have their fingers firmly on the pulse of the pop and celebrity culture that our listeners love.”
Programme Manager at heat radio, Talia Kraines, added: “We’re so excited to have James Barr on heat radio. He’ll continue to help us ramp up our Cheryl fangirling as he and Alex make the perfect accompaniment to getting ready for a massive Saturday night out. Then when our heads hurt the next day, Claire will be keeping us company on a lazy Sunday afternoon.”
