A tongue-in-cheek comment made by BBC Tees presenter Paul Goffy Gough has resulted in local workers sending in photos to the station to prove they are working hard.
Goffy commented how the operation to repair and repaint a local bridge wasn’t moving very fast, given all the traffic delays caused by the bridge’s closure.
But workers on top of the bridge heard and decided to send in photos to prove they were working hard to restore the structure.
Goffy said: “It was just a bit of fun, really. I was having a bit of a laugh on air, saying there didn’t seem to be much progress being made, and then these fantastic photos arrived.
“They are fabulous and I’m now very willing to accept how hard they are working! It was a nice touch.”
The story made the local paper too.
