Signal will lead the way with a new service which plays music videos of the songs playing on the radio for people listening online.
UTV has signed up US company VADIO to roll out the service across its local radio stations in England and Wales, starting with “Signal 1 TV”.
The company is also promising big name interviews and more exclusive content on the stream, which can switch to the presenter during speech links and commercials during ad breaks.
Iain Fowler, Group Director for UTV Media’s local stations, said: “We are always looking for new ways to engage with our listeners and this partnership is the perfect way to increase UTV’s digital offering. The Vadio music environment extends the reach of the on air experience and provides a fantastic prospect for our video advertisers and listeners alike.”
Stations getting the service are Juice FM in Liverpool, The Pulse 1 and 2 in Bradford, Kirklees and Calderdale, Signal 1 and 2 Staffordshire and Cheshire, Swansea Sound and The Wave in South Wales, Peak FM in North Derbyshire, Radio wave in Blackpool, Tower FM in Bolton and Bury, Wire FM in Warrington, Widnes and Runcorn, Wish FM in Wigan and St Helens, and Signal 107 in Wolverhampton, Shrewsbury, Oswestry, Kidderminster.
Vasileios Touronis SVP, Interlational, Vadio said: “We’re very excited to partner with UTV Media on this project. The media company has proven to be a thought leader in changing the way audiences connect with audio content and our service is sure to help keep them at the leading edge.”
Vadio recently launched the service on NOVA in Australia, creating NOVA TV to sit alongside the radio brand, and is already used by SPIN in Ireland. It’s the first time Vadio will be available on a UK station. See it in action here.
