Metro Radio and TFM breakfast show presenters Steve and Karen are locking one listener in a coffin in a bid to win cash.
Once the listener has been chosen, they will be locked in for one hour and they only win the prize of £1,000 if they correctly guess when the 60 minutes has passed.
If they guess outside of this time listeners at home can steal the cash by correctly predicting when they think the contender will press the buzzer. In week one of the promotion more than 20,000 text entries had been received.
Steve explained the thinking behind the promotion: “We wanted to give our listeners something different that created fun around Halloween. Yes it’s one of the craziest things we’ve done on the show and it’s certainly generated a mix of gasps and giggles across the region.”
The final day of the competition is live on the morning of Halloween and will see the contender locked in the coffin at the Chapel of Rest owned by Blyth funeral undertakers ‘Go As You Please’. A “Coffin Cam” will keep track of the contestant.
