Classic FM’s composer-in-residence and weekend presenter Howard Goodall is leaving the station after six years on-air.
He joined in 2008 as Saturday afternoon presenter and won a Radio Academy Bronze award for ‘Saturday Night at the Movies with Howard Goodall’ this year.
The man behind the music of tv shows such as Blackadder and The Vicar of Dibley says he will has a busy year ahead. “After six wonderful years at Classic FM, I have decided to hang up my headphones and step down from broadcasting to concentrate on my composing.” Howard told RadioToday.
“2015 will be an incredibly busy year for me, with the stage musical Bend It Like Beckham opening in the West End in the spring being just one of my major projects. Classic FM is a truly unique, friendly and innovative station and I wish the whole team at Global every success for the future.”
A Classic FM spokesperson added: “We would like to thank him for all his hard work, enthusiasm and contributions to Classic FM, both as presenter of Saturday Night at the Movies and as our Composer-in-Residence. We wish him the very best. We will announce our plans for 2015 in due course.”
