Rob Howard swaps Capital NE for Birmingham

Rob Howard, drivetime presenter at Capital North East is moving to Capital Birmingham to co-host the breakfast show.

He’ll be joining Katy Poulsom on the flagship show, replacing current co-presenter Dan Kelly who is leaving the station at the end of the year after 10 years.

A spokesperson for Capital Birmingham told RadioToday: “From Monday 5 January, Rob Howard will join Capital Birmingham to co-host the Breakfast show alongside Katy Poulsom. Rob joins us from Capital North East, where he presented the Drive show, and we would like to welcome him to the Capital Birmingham team.”

Dan Kelly has been on breakfast in Birmingham since 2005, and before that worked on two national stations in the UAE. He wrote on Facebook today: “I’m extremely proud to have hosted the Breakfast Show for the last 10 years. I had the option to carry on until 2016 but after much uncertainty I’ve realised it’s best to move on and my last show will be on CHRISTMAS EVE. My first show on 102.2 was in 1998 when I was 19. Since then I’ve seen two takeovers, CHOICE FM became GALAXY & then CAPITAL. With the exception of my stint in Dubai i’ve been at this place my entire career, it’s defined who I am & i’ll miss everything so much.”

Capital added: “Dan Kelly will leave us at the end of the year and we wish him the best for the future.”

The new presenter of Capital North East’s Drive show will be announced shortly.
