Jarvis Cocker is returning to his ‘dream slot’ on BBC Radio 6 Music in March, after taking time out to build ‘a stronger and more vigorous’ programme.
This month, Pauline Black is covering his Sunday 4pm till 6pm show, and John Cooper Clarke will host it in February. Iggy Pop has been guest presenter since Jarvis took a sabbatical last year.
When signing Jarvis for a weekly show in 2009, Bob Shennan, controller of 6 Music and Radio 2, said: “Jarvis just loves music. He’s an iconic figure so he’s perfect for Sundays on 6 Music.”
“It’s a great honour to be working for the BBC, which I consider to be the greatest broadcaster in the world,” Cocker added. He won the Rising Star at the Sony Radio Academy Awards a year later.
Jarvis will be back on Sunday 1st March after concentrating on writing new songs.
