Newsbeat gets a new beat at BBC Radio 1

Former Head of Station Sound at Radio 1 and 1Xtra Dan Mumford has created the new sound of Newsbeat on the stations.

He was commissioned to create the new sound after it went out to tender last year. If you can’t see the video above, click here to hear the audio.

Dan tells RadioToday: “I worked closely with Newsbeat to develop main bulletin, sports, weather and entertainment beds. They knew the kind of sound they were looking for so it was an easy and enjoyable process producing all the elements.”

Dan has been writing music for radio, TV and film since December 2013 and recent credits and commissions include rebranding Ministry of Sound Radio, the BBC1 documentary ‘Super Senses’, The Inbetweeners Movie 2, World War One on the BBC and the music mix for the London New Year’s Eve fireworks.
