Music production company Beds & Beats has signed up Simon May – composer of the Eastenders theme tune.
Simon will write production music for the company, starting with a new album of TV themes. He also brings co-writers to the project, including some writing for Beds & Beats for the first time, including David Lowe (BBC News), Simon Lockyer and Paul Farrer (The Chase, Weakest Link etc).
Dave Bethell of Beds & Beats tells RadioToday: “This is all part of our ongoing mission to not only find and champion the freshest talent out there, but also to work with the biggest names in the media and production music world. It doesn’t get much bigger than this. It’s an absolute pleasure to be working with Simon a musical hero and icon.”
Simon May adds: “Production music is today without question the best way for a composer like myself to reach out to TV and Radio producers and all the Team at Beds & Beats have encouraged me to come up with a selection of what I believe are the very best compositions I have had the fun of creating in recent years. The respect and motivation which everyone in the team at beds & beats has given me has resulted in a very special album which I am proud of and which I hope everyone in Radio and TV will enjoy.”
Beds & Beats is holding a party for producers in London tomorrow with special guests and Simon May’s TV Themes will be live in March.
