Mary Beer and Kate Reilly are joining PPL’s Executive Management Team.

Mary Beer joins the music licensing company as Director of Marketing and PR whilst Kate Reilly is promoted to the newly created role of Director of People and Organisational Development.

Mary comes to PPL from BBC Worldwide where she held the position of Commercial Strategy Director, and was previously Global Director of Marketing at FremantleMedia Enterprises and Marketing Director at Flextech Television. She has led B2B and B2C marketing, PR, live events, digital and social strategy for a range of brands and most recently worked with the team at BBC Worldwide to revitalise Doctor Who.

At PPL Mary will be responsible for leading the team in driving awareness of the organisation and music licensing amongst UK businesses, performers and the wider music industry. She said: “I want to drive growth by helping PPL innovate and channel its abundant creativity to best effectiveness around the needs of its members and licensees. I look forward to working closely with the team; we are already looking at some very exciting projects for the year ahead.”

Former Head of HR at PPL, Kate Reilly, has been promoted to Director of People and Organisational Development. In this newly created role Kate is responsible for leading the HR, Training and Quality, and Facilities teams at PPL to promote a culture of continuous improvement, enhanced employee engagement, and to lead the delivery of learning and development. Kate is also leading on initiatives around equality, diversity and talent recruitment within the wider music and creative industries work in this area.

Kate said: “We have such a diverse range of creative and incredibly talented people here at PPL that I’m very lucky to have the privilege to work alongside. Our employee training schemes are unique to the organisation and inimitable in that we offer bespoke personal development for each and every staff member to support their growth within the business; I look forward to continuing our successful work in this area.”

Peter Leathem, CEO, PPL, said: “Communication is a vital aspect of what we do at PPL both to educate our members about their music rights and also to promote the benefits of recorded music to our licensees and businesses across the country and so I am delighted to welcome Mary on board to help us to continue to innovate and develop. Mary’s expertise, energy and passion will make her a valuable addition to PPL. Kate, meanwhile, has become highly respected for her approach to developing people skills within the business since joining PPL just over three years ago, and has become a key member of the team at PPL. I congratulate them both and look forward to them making a real difference in what will be another important year for PPL.”
