Comedian Matt Forde is to host a new comedy panel show series at One Golden Square, for broadcast on Absolute Radio in the run-up to the General Election.
The show will ask some of Britain’s best-loved comedians what they would do if they were elected Prime Minister.
The Alternative Vote, which is currently available for sponsorship, follows ‘The Manuscript’, the station’s debut comedy panel show series which aired alongside commercial partner Just For Men in 2014.
Recorded in front of a live audience at Bauer Radio’s London HQ, One Golden Square, the panel show will be in addition to Matt’s monthly live show The Political Party with Matt Forde.
Matt Forde said: “I’m very excited to be making a comedy show about politics on the verge of the most chaotic general election in history. It’s not heavy, it’s just a group of people messing about and pretending to be politicians. If it’s good enough for the Lib Dems, it’s good enough for me.”
Each week Forde will be joined by top panellists and comedians who’ll be asked for their manifesto for the laws they’d introduce and what they’d look to ban from everyday life, if they were given the top job at 10 Downing Street.
Absolute Radio’s Content Director Tony Moorey said “The Alternative Vote further cements Absolute Radio’s commitment to comedy which already sees Frank Skinner, Christian O’Connell, Alun Cochrane, Geoff Lloyd, Rob Beckett and Ian Stone broadcasting to the Absolute Radio Network’s 4 million strong audience each week.”
The three-part series will be co-created with Avalon which already produces the Radio Academy Award winning Frank Skinner Show on Absolute Radio.
The series will be broadcast on Friday evenings at 7pm, starting on 17th April. It will be repeated on Sunday evenings and a podcast will be available each week.
