Radio Newark will launch on Saturday 2nd May 2015, broadcasting on 107.8FM in the Newark-on-Trent area of Nottinghamshire.
The community station has been using temporary broadcasts to gain awareness since it launched in 2013, and has forged close working relationships with the schools in the area.
It is based at a local Academy primary school and pupils from across the Newark Family of Schools have been involved with the station from the start. They will play an increasingly active part in its output in the weeks and months to come.
“The whole team has put a lot of work into getting to this point,” station director Phil Johnson told RadioToday. “Now we can’t wait to start bringing Radio Newark to our town, 24 hours a day, seven days a week”.
Test transmissions on the new frequency begin today, Monday 13 April. Radio Newark will then begin broadcasting live on 107.8FM from 8am on Saturday 2 May and online.
