Vicki Blight to host Demo Factor for SRA

Absolute Radio’s Vicki Blight is to take over from Adam Catterall as host of the popular Demo Factor event.

The X-Factor style judging of demos takes place at the annual Student Radio Conference, this year held in Exeter from April 20th.

Vicki has been a judge on Demo Factor since 2008 and feels she has big shoes to fill: “I’ve loved every minute of being a judge and it’s always an incredible experience to offer advice and encouragement to new student radio talent. SRACon has always been an amazing event that I look forward to every year.

“I know that without Adam in attendance there’s a pair of big, well-polished, sharp, funny and caring shoes to fill. I only hope I can do them justice, as I become your new Demo Factor host for 2015!”

Head Judge, Chris North says a new judge will be announced soon to replace Vicki: “Vic leaves behind an empty fifth chair on stage, so I’m excited to say that we will very soon be able to welcome a new member of the judging panel to the Demo Factor world and its big gold letters!”

Chris also thanked Adam for his work in the past: “We’ll miss his experience, wicked humour and sharp suits. I thank him for his commitment and passion and he’ll always be a big part of the team.”

Stu Manton, Chair of the Student Radio Association said, “We’re so excited that Demo Factor is returning to the National Student Radio Conference again this year, and what better way to celebrate than to shake things up a little bit! Having a Student Radio Awards Best Female winner and SRA Honorary Life Member in Vicki hosting the evening just shows how important student radio is to people and how it really sticks with you. And of course, Demo Factor is also such a great opportunity for students to get really valuable feedback on their work from such a great range of esteemed judges. It will be one not to miss!

Paid up SRA conference delegates can now upload their demo at demofactor.com for a chance to have their demo played out on the night and receive live feedback.

Vicki added: “As I step off the stage and into the midst of nerves, Jäger and the next generation of award winning presenters, don’t think it’s all on you though, I’ll make sure we push the judges to say what they mean and answer your questions! For now, make sure you get your audio ready for the conference. It could be your time to shine! Best of luck and see you in Exeter #DevonOrHell”
