The BBC’s latest pop up digital radio station has launched, with BBC Radio 2 Eurovision on air until midnight Sunday night.
It’s the second year the Radio 2 spin-off has appeared on DAB radios to broadcast build-up and coverage of the Eurovision Song Contest, which this year is being held in Vienna.
Thursday afternoon and evening sees coverage of the Semi-Finals, hosted by Ana Mantronic from Scissor Sisters. Paddy O’Connell is on live from Vienna at lunchtime on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, while Graham Norton’s Saturday morning show will be simulcast on both Radio 2 and Radio 2 Eurovision.
Ken Bruce presents coverage of the contest itself on Saturday night, with Paddy O’Connell back on air from 11pm with the after show party.
There are also a variety of pre-recorded programmes over the 4 days, hosted by Radio 2 presenters including Vanessa Feltz, Steve Wright, Terry Wogan, Sara Cox, Maria McErlane and Ken Bruce. Plus there’s a programme fronted by Radio 1’s Scott Mills. Celebrity guest hosts include comedian Rufus Hound and former Eurovision contestant Sonia.
Ken Bruce’s Radio 2 show is also coming live from Austria today and tomorrow, with Ken broadcasting from the studios of the national broadcaster, ORF.
Ken will be announcing the results of a poll to decide Radio 2 listeners’ all time favourite Eurovision song from the last 60 years. He’ll also be counting down the full Top 40 of Ken Bruce’s Ultimate Eurovision Chart on Radio 2 Eurovision on Friday night at 10pm.
