Apple’s new worldwide radio station Beats 1 has launched with Zane Lowe’s first radio show since leaving BBC Radio 1.
The start of his first show – which will be daily from today – came one hour after the official launch of Apple Music at 4pm today. The first song, after an opening statement from Zane, was Manchester band Spring King with City.
Prior to the launch of Beats 1, Zane could be heard over ambient music preparing with a few ‘mic checks’ and talking to other studio locations to confirm a connection.
To listen to Beats 1, iPhone and iPad users will need to upgrade the software on their devices to iOS 8.4 which features an all-new Music app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Then just launch the Music app to listen to Apple Music and Beats 1, and see all membership options. Listening to Beats 1 is free once signed in.
