A number of radio stations across the UK are now broadcasting Digital Radio UK’s summer advertising campaign.
The ads focus on the music and sports content available on digital radio and that’s the theme of the Summer digital radio campaign – ‘Don’t Miss a Thing this Summer’ – voiced by Suzi Perry.
The BBC campaign has separate trails for BBC Radio 1, Radio 1 Xtra, Radio 2, Radio 3, Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra and 6 Music and a version for local BBC stations. In the second phase of the BBC campaign in August there will be additional trails for BBC Radio 5 live and 5 live Sports Extra.
The BBC is also mounting a major TV and radio promotional push for the England v Australia Ashes which runs from 8 July to 25 August with radio commentary running exclusively on BBC Radio 5 live Sports Extra.
The commercial radio campaign will run in two phases (June and July) and splits into three key messages supporting choice, cars and an upgrade promotion. The campaign is running on over 100 commercial stations including Classic FM, Capital, Heart, Magic, Kiss and Absolute Radio.
The upgrade promotion is being supported by Halfords and other national aftermarket retailers. It offers consumers the opportunity to trade in their old car radio or sat nav and get 20% off a new digital radio for the car. The promotion runs till August 2nd.
Also, Digital Radio UK has appointed Yvette Dore as its new Communications Director. Yvette has previously worked in the radio sector for RadioCentre and Global’s former PR agency Maclaurin.
