News presenter Dave Woods from community station Swindon 105.5 is attempting to cycle 105.5 miles on a static bike to raise funds for the station.
Dave will be taking on the challenge on Saturday 25th July at a local Tesco Extra store, on a bike donated by a local gym.
“We often ask the local community and businesses for help, but as a volunteer I wanted to show my support as well. I am hoping to raise £1,055 for the radio station, which is such a unique community service to Swindon,” Dave said.
Station Manager Shirley Ludford: “It’s great that station volunteers are keen to do their bit to show support for the radio station on which has made opportunities available for so many individuals. We’ll be there to spur Dave on the day and hope it’s really a successful and fun event.”
The challenge will get underway at 9.30am when the Mayor of Swindon Cllr Andrew Bennett starts the proceedings and Dave is hoping to complete the 105.5 miles in under eight hours.
“I’m not the fittest of people: Dave added, “so I think it’s going to be a challenge, some people have told be its total madness. I’ve started to go to Kiss Gym and get some much needed practice in and personal trainer Nick Tuckett has set up a training programme for me, so I’m getting there. I would love to raise £1, 055, and have already raised just under £300 so any support would be really welcome.”
