Cambridge 105 is celebrating five years of broadcasting with a documentary about the station since it was created.
Over the weekend, the station aired a live edition of its breakfast quiz Where’s Flossie, and the station documentary will air Sunday at 7pm, produced by drive presenter Julian Clover.
The first transmissions came from a house belonging to one of the directors. A few months later Cambridge 105 moved to a former bookbinder’s in the Gwydir Street Enterprise Centre. Initially the community radio station was on the air for just four hours a day, but today Cambridge 105 broadcasts 24/7 with around 18 hours broadcast live.
Station Manager Tim Willett said: “Cambridge 105 has come a fantastic way during our first five years on air. We now have to look to the next five years, with even more involvement from the community, and our new DAB Digital Radio service starting in the next few weeks.”
