Free Radio’s pregnant breakfast show presenter Roisin has created a band of mums-to-be to sing at a festival this weekend.
The idea happened on-air when she spontaneously announced during the JD and Roisin breakfast show she wanted to form a band after Free Radio Coventry & Warwickshire was offered a spot as official partners of the Coventry Godiva Festival.
Roisin and the Contractions will perform this Sunday sharing the bill with acts such as Fun Lovin’ Criminals, Embrace, and The Wombats, attended by 125,000 people.
They will sing an ultimate pregnant mash-up of Baby Love, All The Pregnant Ladies, Nice Nice Baby and Push It.
“Free Radio listeners were asked if they could think of any songs the band could sing and after lots of great ideas we thought we could combine them altogether and perform an ultimate pregnant mashup,” said Roisin.
Tim Spencer, a vocal coach from Coventry, is giving his time to teach the band to sing, while Jade from Elite Dance School in Coventry offered to choreograph the band’s performance. The girls were also treated to a shopping spree by the Lower Precinct Shopping Centre to fix them up with outfits for the show.
Roisin and the Contractions will perform at 2:30pm on 5th July.
