Global’s Manchester and North West stations are moving from Salford Quays to Manchester city centre.
Heart, XFM and Capital, plus Communicorp’s Smooth and Real XS will leave the home of Media City UK in favour of a new office development called XYZ in Spinningfields, Manchester. The two companies currently operate from two buildings close to each other in Salford – Laser House and Exchange Quay.
The new building will be ready in the autumn of 2016 and Global will occupy 16,699 sq ft across the top two floors. It will be separated for the two companies to operate independently.
It’s just across the road from the old Coronation Street set, and not too far away from Bauer’s HQ – home of Key 103, Key 2 and Key 3.
Stephen Miron, Global’s group CEO, said: “The XYZ building is a great fit for Global’s culture offering a dynamic workplace. We are delighted to be Allied London’s first signing and we look forward to moving into our new home in the heart of Spinningfields.”
Commenting on the deal, Michael Ingall, chief executive of Allied London, said: “XYZ is a concept that we have dedicated years of design and research to. We identified the future of workspace requirements three years ago and developed a capability to develop this type of building, through our platforms, Hello Work and Capital Properties.
“Global have really grasped the concept of XYZ and we look forward to seeing how they engage with XYZ.”
Global and Communicorp leaving Salford Quays will mean only BBC Radio Manchester and 5 live are the only radio stations based there – plus new DAB station Chris Country.
