GLOBAL QUOTES

Ashley Tabor, founder & executive president of Global, said: “This is one of our best RAJARs to date, if not our best ever. With Global overall, and the Heart, Capital and Smooth brands all achieving their highest ever numbers, and Capital once again London’s number 1 breakfast show, what more could you ask for! To say I’m incredibly proud of the team at Global today would be a huge understatement – these results are an indication of just how hard every Globaller works to build radio brands that our listeners love and I’d like to thank them all sincerely today.”

Richard Park, group executive director & director of broadcasting at Global, said: “This is a great result for Global as we reach more listeners than ever before. It’s always pleasing to see strong growth from across the portfolio. While Heart and Capital continue to be the UK’s most popular radio brands, I’m particularly delighted to see both Classic FM and Smooth joining them by pulling in 5.5 million listeners each.”

UTV QUOTES

Calum Macaulay, talkSPORT Managing Director said: “We’re delighted with these numbers as they demonstrate the strong line up of presenters on talkSPORT and reflect our continued investment in talent and rights. We’ve got a huge upmarket profile and are also attracting a younger audience to the station. Our strategy around digital is proving highly successful with record traffic to the website and we have built the largest Twitter following of any UK commercial radio station (830,000). Similarly the station’s Facebook page is now the biggest of any UK commercial radio station with 1.8m Likes. The future is incredibly exciting as we work towards launching three new, national stations early next year – talkSPORT 2, talkRADIO and Virgin Radio. talkSPORT 2 will be more focused on live rights including football, cricket, rugby, golf and also US sport, so we can offer listeners even greater choice.”

BAUER QUOTES

Dee Ford, Group Managing Director Radio, Bauer Media, said: “The latest RAJAR results clearly demonstrate that our significant digital investment continues to drive record reach and share for Bauer Media. We are leading in the digital radio space, with our reach up 8% yoy, high above the industry average. This focus in digital growth has undoubtedly helped today’s positive headlines with healthy growth for both the KISS and Absolute Radio Networks, plus Bauer City 2 and 3.”

Abby Carvosso, Group MD Bauer Advertising said: “Our continued leadership in the digital radio sector demonstrates our commitment to growth through innovation. We want to ensure it is as easy as possible for customers to access all our valuable audiences in the most effective way possible, engaging audiences on both a local and national scale across the country.”

BBC QUOTES

Ben Cooper, Controller Radio 1 & 1Xtra said: “In a week where Grimmy has had interviews with Adele, Justin Bieber and James Bond, I’m delighted to see Nick firmly established as the Number 1 youth presenter in the country and that Radio 1’s strategy of ‘listen, watch, share’ is giving our young audience what they want, when they want it, on both a radio and a phone. I’m also very proud of 1Xtra posting their second highest figures in the station’s history which shows a healthy appetite for new music in the UK.”

Helen Boaden, Director of BBC Radio said: “It’s fantastic to see that listeners are finding and enjoying our distinctive digital-only stations in record numbers. Radio 4 Extra’s reach continues to grow, bringing the best of the spoken word archive now to 2.2 million people, and all of the BBC’s digital-only stations complement and strengthen our overall offer to audiences. From specialist shows to news, world class music performances and our much-loved breakfast shows, BBC Radio caters for everyone and I’m delighted that our programmes and stations continue to play such an important part in people’s everyday lives.”
