Aberdeen’s Original 106 has started its 9th consecutive Christmas Toy Appeal this week to help local families.
The station is, as ever, wanting listeners to donate toys, but this year Original is widening the scope of the appeal to include non-perishable foods that will stock local food banks over the festive season.
Programme Controller Martin Ingram told RadioToday: “The north east of Scotland has seen some real challenges facing its economy over the past year with the fall of the oil-price, it has become very clear that this effect has filtered through to all sectors, and the knock-on effect is being particularly felt by the poorest in our area.
“We’re just pleased that we, as the area’s local radio station can rally the support of our listeners to do something positive”
The station has a number of drop off points in the local area and the appeal runs till mid December.
