Audible is to sponsor the Gold Award and drinks Reception at this year’s Radio Production Awards next week.
The ceremony will also feature a live performance by singer Nell Bryden.
The Gold Award recognises the achievements of an individual who has made an outstanding contribution, usually over a number of years, to the UK independent audio production sector.
Previous Gold Award winners have included radio commentator Gillian Reynolds, and Mike Hally of Square Dog Productions, who is also a former RIG Chair. The Drinks Reception at the Awards will take place at the London Hippodrome on 24th November. Tickets are now on general sale.
Steve Carsey, head of original programming at Audible UK said: “We’re delighted to be able to celebrate the vibrancy and creativity of the UK’s independent audio production sector by supporting this award. Our work creating, commissioning and shaping new audio programming means we get to work with some of the best talent in the business. So it’s great to be able to help recognise the difference those outstanding individuals make through the Gold Award.”
David Prest, Chair of the RPAs Organising Committee, said: “The RPAs have been going from strength to strength since they began in 2010, and we’re delighted this year to have Audible’s support. The Gold Award is a very special accolade for someone who’s really made a difference over the years, and Audible’s accompanying sponsorship of the Drinks Reception will allow everyone to toast all the winners and nominees in style”.
