Radio Lincolnshire’s Alan Stennett honoured

This year’s New Year’s Honours List includes long serving BBC Radio Lincolnshire presenter Alan Stennett.

Alan joined the station when it opened in 1980, but had been with the BBC for a decade prior, working a technician, studio manager and script writer.

He now hosts the farming features and was awarded a BEM (British Empire Medal) for services to the Farming Industry and Broadcasting in Lincolnshire.

Other radio-related names in the list, released Wednesday evening, includes 5 live contributor Sue Barker who gets an OBE and reporter Jacqui Oatley who has been awarded an MBE.

Jacqui started her career at hospital radio, then went to work in sports reporting for BBC Radio Leeds, WM and London 94.9. At 5 live, she became the first woman to commentate on a football match on British network radio in 2005.

And former GMG plc Chief Executive Carolyn McCall, current Chief Executive of EasyJet is now a Dame.
