Sun FM creates wedding for listener with cancer

Operate Wedding at Sun FM has resulted in a dream wedding being given to a terminally ill listener.

Dad of 2 Michael Duggan will marry his fiancé Sarah-Jane Thurlow thanks to the UKRD station’s Christmas Wishes campaign.

They visited the studio to be told the news, and was informed the £2k they’d manage to raise themselves could now be spent on a honeymoon.

Breakfast show host Simon Grundy says: “For two weeks leading up to Christmas we were granting wishes and giving Christmas treats to deserving people who had been nominated by friends and family such as poorly children spending time with Sunderland AFC footballers to an 87 year-old grandmother having an afternoon tea, but when this nominee came to our attention we pulled out all the stops to ensure Michael and Julie can enjoy their short future together as Husband and Wife”.
