Craig Stewart appointed PC at Smooth Radio NE

Communicorp has hired Craig Stewart as Programme Controller for Smooth Radio North East, replacing Jon Kirby.

Craig is currently afternoon drive producer on Heart North East, and was previously station producer for Real Radio the North East and Yorkshire.

He’ll work with Smooth North East’s team including breakfast presenter Steve Colman and drivetime’s Clive Warren.

Former PC Jon Kirby recently left the station for a new job in Dubai.

Heather Kane, Head of News and Programming at Communicorp UK, told RadioToday: “We are delighted to have Craig on board and joining the Smooth North East programming team. I have no doubt that he will deliver some fantastic creative ideas and results for us as a station and as a group and I know that the team is very much looking forward to giving him a warm welcome next month.”

Craig Stewart said: “I leapt at the chance to join the Communicorp UK team and I’m looking forward to working alongside a great team at Smooth North East.”

Craig joined the former GMG Radio Group as an assistant producer in 2004, at Smooth Radio North West before moving to Wales to become station producer at Real Radio Wales.
