Chris Howell, current programme manager for eagle3, has is to become the new Head of Music for UKRD.
Group Programme Director, Dave Coull, confirmed the appointment in a company-wide announcement issued today saying that “Chris’s love of music, combined with his passion for all things digital and his awareness of the need for the development of multi-platform services, aligns him perfectly with the Group’s programming strategy.”
Chris joined Eagle Radio’s Academy in 2006 as a part of the stations work experience initiative and shortly after that, took up the post of Station Producer before his more recent appointment as Programme Manager of eagle3, which included the management of some of Eagle Radio digital properties.
“I’m hugely excited at the chance of working more closely with each of the stations in the group and learning more about all of the markets in which we operate,” said Chris.
“Helping to increase audience levels at all our stations is something I relish the opportunity to do and I’m looking forward to enhancing still further the truly local radio services which UKRD delivers in its markets.”
Chris’s appointment also coincided with an internal announcement that sees the launch of a training and development at the company.
Announcing the details, Dave Coull told UKRD’s teams, “At the very heart of this plan lies the opportunity for all of those who have the appetite and enthusiasm to grow within UKRD, to do just that. This is all about developing and progressing,” he said.
“Chris’s promotion is the latest example of someone being recognised for putting the effort in and having the right cultural approach. If you are committed, work hard and want to progress, this is the company for you.” he said.
