New BBC local radio role for Gareth Roberts
Gareth Roberts is taking over as Managing Editor of BBC Coventry & Warwickshire, moving from BBC WM in June.
Andrew Bowman who has led BBC Coventry & Warwickshire temporarily whilst former Managing Editor Sarah Harness has been on attachment at BBC WM will return to his permanent role at BBC Radio Manchester.
Sarah Harness has been made Managing Editor of BBC WM after a 12 month attachment as acting editor at the station.
Gareth Roberts has for the past year has been in the post of BBC Local Radio Development Editor working across all the BBC local radio networks, a role he will continue to hold as he takes on the editorship of BBC Coventry and Warwickshire.
Previously, Gareth was Head of News at Capital Radio, Programme Director of Century 106, Executive Producer of the Johnny Vaughan breakfast show on Capital FM and Assistant Editor at BBC London 94.9.

“With Sarah taking the fixed position as editor at BBC WM these are two brilliant appointments for our local radio in the West Midlands. I am also delighted that Gareth will continue to have a pivotal role across BBC Local Radio – this will be a benefit for both his new station and the whole network.”
Gareth Roberts added: “Andrew Bowman and Sarah Harness have done a great job at Coventry and Warwickshire and I can’t wait to build on their successes. It’s an exciting time for the station with its new breakfast show line-up of Trish and Jo and all the fantastic forthcoming projects including Shakespeare Street. Coventry and Warwickshire is a fantastic area with a really passionate radio audience, I can’t wait to get started.”
Andrew Bowman said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time at Coventry and Warwickshire, it’s been great getting to know the listeners and team. I’m really proud of the whole team, not least our new breakfast show hosts Trish and Jo. I’m pleased to be leaving the station in such a strong position.”
