Dominic O’Connell, Business Editor of The Sunday Times, has been appointed as the new business presenter of the Radio 4 Today Programme.
Dominic has been Business Editor of The Sunday Times since 2010, and joined the paper in 2001. Before that, he was part of the launch team of Sunday Business.
He replaces Simon Jack, who was recently appointed BBC business editor, and will appear regularly on Business Live on BBC World News and the News Channel, on World Service Radio business output, and he will contribute to the online business pages.
Dominic O’Connell says: “I am excited – and quite daunted – to be joining Today. It is a national institution of which listeners expect a lot, and it is an honour to be a part of it.”
Jasmin Buttar, Editor, BBC Business and Economics, says: “The business slots on the Today programme play a big role in setting the business news agenda for each day, so it is great for the BBC to have such a high-calibre, agenda-setting journalist taking on this position.
“Dominic has exceptional contacts in the business world and a track record in original journalism that will be invaluable to Today and the BBC’s business news more widely.”
