Radio Lancashire’s 24 hour emergency broadcast

All day Thursday, BBC Radio Lancashire is on a 24 hour mission with continuous coverage of Lancashire’s emergency services.

The station starts at 0600 Thursday and will continue till the same time on Friday with reporters broadcasting live with police, fire crews, and paramedics throughout the 24 hours, following events as they happen. There will also be special reports from the county’s lifeboat crews and mountain rescue teams.

Some of the key moments expected throughout the day include:

  • Breakfast, presented by Graham Liver, will come live from Lancashire Police HQ at Hutton, looking behind the scenes with fire-arms and dog units.
  • From 0930, Sally Naden and Brett Davison will officially open the new Broughton Ambulance Station live on their show.
  • At 1200 John Gillmore takes the helm live from the Lancashire Fire and Rescue Training Centre at Washington Hall in Chorley. He’ll see firefighters put through their paces on exercises and have a go himself.
  • Gary Hickson from 1600 will be live at Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team’s HQ in Burnley discovering how the volunteers risk their lives to save others every year.

Through the evening and overnight there will be reporters across the county showing the reality of what Lancashire’s emergency services have to face.

Then the next day, on the Friday morning (13th), BBC Radio Lancashire will talk to the chief constable, chief fire officer and a director of the ambulance trust about any issues the day highlights.
