Harry Shearer to host Sunday Service on 6 Music

Actor and comedian Harry Shearer is to sit in for Jarvis next week as host of the Sunday Service.

Harry is best known as the voice of numerous Simpsons characters including Mr Burns and Ned Flanders, and will be on 6 Music from 4-6pm on Sunday 4th September playing some of his favourite songs.

Recorded at his home in LA, Harry will be delving deep into his vinyl collection to bring listeners an hour of carnival music and an hour of lesser known LA artists.

He’ll be looking back on 6 Music’s Carnival weekend and playing songs from New Orleans, Brazil and many others – introducing one of his favourite genres of music to a new audience. He’ll also pick an hour or music from Los Angeles based artists, who may be not known so well in the UK – showcasing the breadth of song-writing talent and musicianship on the West Coast from the 60s to the present.

Harry is also known for his roles in Saturday Night Live and cult mockumentary This is Spinal Tap. Aside from acting, he also presents a weekly radio show, Le Show, on National Public Radio in the US, which is a blend of satirical news commentary, music, and sketch comedy.
