Nation Radio has recruited Carl Hughes and Rachel Chew from Sam FM Swindon to take over Breakfast.
Carl, who started his radio career in South Wales, says: “After working at Heart and Capital for most of my time in the industry so far, I met up with Rachel a year ago and we hit it off from the start. To be able to continue working together but on a much bigger station is so exciting.”
Programme Director Neil Greenslade told RadioToday: “Carl and Rachel have real chemistry between them. They’re creative and very funny. They do things on air that get people talking and that will appeal to Nation’s listeners across Wales.”
The new show, which started this week, is part of a revamp to the on-air line up at Nation Broadcasting stations. Former breakfast presenters Mark Powell and ITV Wales weather presenter Ruth Wignall move to the Bridge FM and Swansea Bay Radio breakfast show with Lee Jukes on drivetime.
Neil adds: “We’re very proud of our local stations and they’re very important to us. We want to strengthen the local presentation teams as well as introduce a fresh new sound to Nation”.
Kam Kelly is now hosting breakfast at Sam FM Swindon, which has permission from Ofcom to merge all output with Sam FM Bristol.
