Spirit FM abandons OB van after bomb scare

Spirit FM’s OB Vehicle had to be abandoned as a report of a suspect package in a nearby bin meant the police closed the area off.

It happened in the final stages of daytime presenter Ian Crouch’s show last Friday on the UKRD station in Chichester.

Ian kept listeners updated via phone to the studio until the area was finally deemed safe after around half an hour when the broadcast then continued.

Ian told RadioToday about what happened: “I couldn’t believe it, we were in the penultimate hour of the show and just about to have some live music from the prom when we were told we had to leave. Luckily it was a false alarm and we continued after about half an hour”.
