Lauren Laverne has announced the line-up for 6 Music Live, which returns to the station in October.
On Monday 3 October, Pixies, Michael Kiwanuka, The Pretenders, Super Furry Animals and Wild Beasts will be performing live from the BBC’s Maida Vale studios. On Monday 10 October, Slow Club, Kate Tempest, John Cooper Clarke & Hugh Cornwell, Jamie T and Parquet Courts will be live from 6 Music’s Live Rooms in the London and Salford studios.
All the performances will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 6 Music and filmed for online. The performances at Maida Vale will also be filmed for BBC Red Button to be broadcast across the week.
Lauren Laverne says: “The 6 Music Live line-up represents the incredible range of music played on BBC Radio 6 Music every day – from the newer, emerging talents to more established and legendary names who’ve shaped the music we hear today.”
Bob Shennan, Controller, BBC Radio 2, 6 Music and Asian Network, says: “This year, 6 Music Live is bigger than ever before, taking place across two whole days with the performances at Maida Vale being filmed for BBC Red Button and the 6 Music website. Live music is at the heart of what we do with over 300 sessions each year on the station, more of which are now being filmed for our audience to view across the BBC’s digital platforms.”
This year 6 Music Live will encompass two whole days across the full weekday presenting line-up: Shaun Keaveny (7-10am), Lauren Laverne (10am-1pm), Mark Radcliffe & Stuart Maconie (1-4pm), Steve Lamacq (4-7pm) and Marc Riley (7-9pm).
On Monday 3 October the presenters will all be broadcasting from the BBC Maida Vale studios, interviewing the artists who will then perform in front of a small audience of fans. And on Monday 10 October the bands will be performing in the Live Rooms at the station’s Salford and London radio studios.
