Entries have opened for the National Hospital Radio Awards, with the ceremony again being held as part of the HBA’s Annual Conference, taking place next March in Bolton.
Open to all HBA member stations, there will once again be eleven categories, including Best Newcomer, Best Male and Female Presenters and the overall Best Station and the awards will again be judged by those working in both the radio industry and the health service, focussing on Hospital Radio’s key aims in providing an entertainment service to hospital patients.
The deadline for entries is Sunday November 13th, with a shortlist in each category due to be announced on January 1st and the Bronze, Silver and Gold Winners revealed during the ceremony itself.
Last year’s big winners included Radio Tyneside, which won three Golds and two Silvers on the night, with Radio Brockley taking the main Station of the Year Gold.
Other highlights of the ceremony last year included a tweet sent from the International Space Station by British astronaut Tim Peake and an appearance, in person, by HBA Ambassador – Voice of the Lotto Balls – Alan Dedicoat.
There’s no word yet on plans for 2017 ceremony, although organisers are promising something a little extra special, as it’s being held in The Cloisters – a 16th Century converted church, which neighbours the Holiday Inn, Bolton – the venue for the HBA’s annual three-day Conference, being held from March 24th-26th next year.
