TCR FM avoids closure and appeals for help

.

Community radio station TCR FM in Tamworth did not close over the weekend as previously announced.

Instead, the station said a new sound was coming to its frequency of 106.8FM, and made an appeal for local businesses to come forward and advertise.

TCR FM said a lack of money and volunteers caused it to announce it was closing after 8 years on-air.

But not a statement online says: “Community radio in Tamworth is not ending. TCR fm closed on 22nd October 2017 after 8 years broadcasting across Tamworth. A brand new sound is coming to 106.8 fm with a fresh team bringing an exciting sound for community radio in Tamworth. An appeal is now being made for local businesses to come forward to advertise and for local people who’re interested in becoming volunteer presenters.”

More details are expected next week.
