Lyca Radio going national on Sound Digital

Lyca Radio UK has gained a Digital sound programme service (DSPS) licence to broadcast on the Sound Digital DAB multiplex.

It means the brand, which operates in London on Medium Wave as Lyca Dilse 1035 and Lyca Radio 1458, will provide a new service covering 77 percent of the UK adult population via DAB.

Ofcom reports the service will be “A music-led service with a particular emphasis on British Asian Urban artists within a music mix that also appeals to young and older British Asian listeners. The station’s daytime output will include a mix of music, chat and phone-ins relevant to a wide range of listeners.”

A similar service, Awesome Radio, had been running test transmissions since the multiplex launched but disappeared last year.

We’ve contacted the station and multiplex owner to find out more details on the launch and line-up, and we’ll bring them to you when we can.
